2. „Aristocats“ und der Rassismus
Since the 1970s, there has been noticeable improvement in Hollywood’s sensitivity towards minorities, although there is still undoubtedly significant room for improvement. One scene that would undoubtedly be portrayed differently today is the Shun Gon scene from „The Aristocats.“ Almost everything in that scene, from the exaggerated teeth to the use of chopsticks, is unnecessarily racist and perpetuates Asian stereotypes.
While there are still many unresolved issues, the film industry today is actively striving to avoid such stereotypes and promote a more diverse and respectful portrayal of minorities. Recognizing the need for change, filmmakers are working towards greater inclusivity and representation, acknowledging that the depiction of characters should not perpetuate harmful stereotypes but instead foster understanding and cultural appreciation.
